 EDITOR REVIEW: DOWNTOWN. Popular with Duke University students and faculty, this shop and café offers freshly baked breads, muffins, and desserts to eat in or take home. With a huge variety of cakes and desserts to choose from, you may have a tough time making up your mind. The signature black and white cake is a surefire winner, but all of the seasonal berry shortcakes are good as well. If you're looking more for cookies or pastries, you'll be happy here. Kids love all the specially decorated cookies, but adults will love the tangy lemon bars.
